Sexual Abuse

The Sexual Abuse Study Group includes psychoanalysts, candidates, post-doctoral interns and invited guests who meet monthly to discuss clinical material as well as to hear lectures by distinguished guests. While our core mission concerns refining clinical skills for the treatment of adult survivors of physical, psychological and sexual abuse, we also examine trauma and dissociation in the context of interpersonal violations, particularly when those violations combine sexuality and aggression. Therefore, our focus includes the study of relational traumas such domestic violence, sexual predation, and internet-related sexual compulsions. We meet to increase our knowledge of the field, to refine our clinical sensitivity in work with these populations, and to provide a safe forum for members to share work related concerns. In addition, we run a moderate fee referral service. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month in the White Institute library.
