The William Alanson White Institute is an internationally renowned psychoanalytic training center with an outstanding faculty, prestigious history, and tradition of excellence. Founded in 1943, the Institute provides advanced professional training, low fee clinical services, and outreach programs to a wide range of populations in New York City and the surrounding area.
Supporting the Work of the William Alanson White Institute
The Institute depends on the generosity of its friends and supporters to maintain the high standard of psychoanalytic and psychotherapy training and treatment that it provides. The Institute is deeply thankful to its large faculty who teach without remuneration and to the community of donors whose philanthropy supports its mission. In order that the Institute may flourish, donor support in various forms is essential.
A donation to the Institute's Annual Appeal provides unrestricted revenue that permits the Institute to direct funds where they are most needed. These funds permit the Institute to continue to subsidize its many educational programs; to provide excellent low fee mental health services; to support its specialized study groups; to maintain its facilities; and to underwrite its many programs, some of which are offered to the lay and professional public at no charge.
Sponsoring a Clinic Patient in our award-winning low-cost Clinical Services. The Institute offers excellent treatment to a diverse population of patients informed by a strong psychoanalytic foundation that teaches therapists how to help patients explore aspects of self with consistency, depth, and intensity. Our fees are as low as $15 per session, yet costs to the clinic are $95 per session. Contributions to the clinic make a real difference in the lives of those who seek help.
Endowed Gifts assure the permanency and constancy of the Institute’s mission. Endowment funds are invested and only the income generated from these funds is spent. Common forms these gifts may take are scholarship or speaker funds. Creating a named endowed gift is a way the donor may honor a person of considerable significance to the donor.
Gifts to the William Alanson White Institute may be made via cash, credit card or check. In addition, donors may transfer securities to take advantage of the income tax benefits of that approach. Donors may also include the Institute in their estate planning, ie, by specifying the Institute as a beneficiary of all or a portion of their individual retirement account or simplified employee pension account. Other tax advantaged approaches to furthering the work of the Institute include planned gifts, bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, memorials and endowments.
Contributions to the William Alanson White Institute, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible.
